President Edgar Lungu has honoured eight (8) Zambians for their sacrifice, dedication and hard work, in commemoration of the 2021 Africa Freedom Day celebrations.
Notable among them, are musician Maureen Lupo Lilanda, renowned journalist Lackson Nthani and multi sports adminstrator Bismark Simfukwe who the head of state honored with the prestigious
Presidential Insignia of Meritorious Achievement.
Celebrated Zambian music artist Maureen Lupo Lilanda has been honored for her contribution to Zambian music and the arts industry as a whole.
Lilanda was honored for contributing to Zambia’s music and arts industry in her over 30 years career while renowned journalist, Mr Lackson Nthani was recognized for playing a critical role of putting Zambia on the global tourism map for his journalistic contribution in reporting on Zambia’s tourism among other media development achievements.
The President also honored other distinguished Zambians from the Zambia Air Force (ZAF) for their various acts of bravery in saving lives and adding value to humanity.
The Head of State led various dignitaries at the investiture ceremony at state house under very strict adherence to the COVID-19 guidelines to commemorate Africa Freedom Day under the theme ,”Arts Culture and Heritage:Levers For Building The Africa We Want.
